This blog is primarily my personal training and racing journal, and highlights of my kids activities. Not many opinions offered or politics discussed. Just riding and racing in the MN/WI area.

Wednesday Night Interval Training
I missed Tuesday Night Worlds, but thanks to Stamm, I was able to get my interval workout in on Wednesday instead. We rode in the hills of Afton, and I shot my HR north of 160bpm a total of 11 times.
220 - age. Jimmer is so average. Ha Ha. Obviously it doesn't mean much, because I have similar HR numbers to Jimmer. After getting dropped in the first 2 miles at KWRR in the 35+ race, I spent nearly an hour at 170 bpm (92% max) and did nothing but lose many minutes, whilst Jimmer blasted away at the front of the race.
JC, you must have a slow ticker. I can't turn a pedal without hitting 160. If I don't get in the 180s I don't consider it a hard ride.
ReplyDeleteMy max HR is around 185bpm. The only time I see >180 is at the end of a TT, or in a finishing sprint.
ReplyDeleteI have a teammate who's max is around 165. He is almost always 20bpm below my HR for any given effort.
I averaged 185 in a 33km time trial last year.
ReplyDeleteI'm probably over 160 when I get out of bed in the morning.
