Prep for France Trip

We're looking at doing the legendary "Horribly Hilly Hundreds" in June, in prep for our France trip. They have a 100K and 200K option with a ton of climbing. They claim the 200K option has 12,000 feet of cumulative climbing. Obviously, it won't have the "sustained" type of climbing we will get in the Alps of France, but it will do. They don't have 2007 info up yet, but their website is www.horriblyhilly.com

It filled in something like 2 weeks last year, so we'll need to be on the ball.

Talk to (fellow LSC'er) Robbie McLoeken about doing the HHH. He's done it a couple of times....

One of my brothers-in-law (who lives north of Milwaukee) purchased a road bike a few years ago, but with a triple chainring. I thoroughly razzed him about purchasing a road bike with a triple whilst living in 'Sconnie. He also rides the HHH.

I rode most of the HHH this past summer -- in the 95 deg. heat. Ouch. I also now know why he purchased a bike with a triple CR. Double ouch. In fact, most of the people on the HHH had triples. Most were also riding TT bikes which is rather weird given the preponderence of hills in the course. But I digress....

There are more than a few hills that are short (1/2 to 1 mile) and rather steep so, you're right, not the most ideal training for an Alps trip, but the HHH is a fun ride nonetheless and well managed.

have fun! I'll probably do a couple laps around the track that day... ;)
